Furry Friends on the Farm

Coming back this year, Friends on the Farm will take place the first Saturday of the Public Harvest event, the 10th of June. During this time we want everyone to bring their pets to the farm. It would be a great opportunity to let your pets socialize, or maybe even show off that special pet. We have added a walking trail here at the farm for you and your pet to enjoy. We will provide water bowls and fresh water to all. If you want to bring a small personal camera or use your phone then you can take in our scenery alongside your companion! Anything is welcome, from the standard dogs/cats to pet lizards, prized hogs, or even birds. Please be mindful of leash laws during your visit!

2023 Lavender Public Harvest

t's once again time to start planning for our biggest event of the year. This year, from June 5th to June 17th (Excluding Sundays) we will open to the public from 10AM until 5PM every day. The gift store will be open during the same hours.
We have plenty of new things to get excited for this year, as well as the return of some customer favorites. Be sure to look at all our events during this time of year. You dont want to miss the Farm Pick nick day.
+The fields will be open for public picking during this time. This is the only time of the year you can harvest Lavender in our region. You may pick from the field or purchase our pre-bundled stems, either way it is only ten cents per stem. We provide everything you need to cut such as scissors and baskets, and we will bundle up what you pick for you as well. If you do wish to pick from the field yourself, please try to be mindful that there will be no shade since Lavender requires full sun. Hats, sun lotion, and bug spray are all recommended.
A generous selection of Lavender varieties will be on hand this year which will include one or two new strains that we have not yet had for sale previously. Garden vegetables & herbs will be in abundance, as well as seasonal & perennial flowers can be expected. Hanging baskets will return like last year, if any of you might recall those beautiful hanging displays from 2021.
+New to the selection this year will be Herb Planters. We looked at how people bought herbs last year and realized that we could make things easier for you. While we will still have a modest selection of single-pack herbs to choose from, we plan to showcase a large offering of planters, where-in we will have planted a couple of different types of herbs. These planters will be larger sized pots, and you can expect two to four different herbs to be within, allowing you to make a single purchase and get a variety of combinations to be used in your kitchen. (We will only be putting compatable herbs together.)

2021 Lavender Harvest Festival
Open Dates & Times: June 7th - June 26th, from 10AM to 5PM Mon through Sat.
Frogholler Lavender Farm will be holding it's anual Lavender Harvest Festival once again this year. This is the biggest event on the farm for the whole year, where you can come out to harvest your own lavender right from the field during the extremely short harvest window. Most Lavender is only able to be harvested during a few weeks of the year, and this festival is always held during the peak harvest period.
If youre interested in harvesting your own fresh Lavender straight from the field you can come out during the festival and get started right away. The cost for the Lavender is only .10 cent a stem, thats right .10 cent. You don't need to bring anything with you to harvest, we will provide everything you need to do so: Pre-sanitized Scissors & Baskets, along with ties to bundle your lavender as you pick. ( you may bring your own tools if you desire to do so.) If youre new to the process we will also provide helpful tips when you get started, such as the proper cutting length, the optimal bundle size, and tips for drying and storing the lavender you picked once you get home.
Note: The lavender field, by the nature and requirements of lavender plants to flourish, is not shaded. We do have shaded areas here, but if you plan to pick your own lavender you may wish to bring a sun hat, and certainly some sun block. There will be pre picked bundles avaiable for purchase in the store. We will also be glad to go out and pick for you, while you shop and relax.
The greenhouse and plant tables will be fully open and stocked this year as well, with a variety of herbs, vegetables, flowers, and other decorative plants. Yes, we will have Lavender plants for sale, in abundance. This year we have also ordered a sizeable amount of new items, some of which came from seeds that were only just made available for liscensed farms to grow this year. This will include herbs and vegetables as well, so be on the look out for new plants to pick up.
Our store has been fully stocked as well with lavender goods, artisan crafts such as soaps, honey, essential oils & face creams, hand stitched quilts and hand bags, knicknacks, and a much more. The store will be open every day the farm is open, during the same hours. Expect wall to wall items, virtually everything hand crafted. Inside the store is where you will find our own Lavender Lemonade. Michael will be pouring cups all day, make sure to ask for your sample. You will be glad you did.
As per the last few years we will be holding several mini-events during the festival, including but definitely not limited to: Lavender Wand weaving class, Lavender Wreath weaving class, and drawings & prizes. Watch us on Facebook and our website for times and days of the classes. The classes will be limited and pre scheduled. Watermelon slices will be served randomly, free to those attending throughout each day.
There will be a free meal offered to the public on June 19th, all serving from around 11AM to close. The food on offer will be decided on when we get closer to that date, but expect a full meal with at least two courses. We will be following CDC guidelines for serving, sanitizing, and waste disposale.
Drinks will be on sale throughout the entire festival, from water to soda, all ice cold.
We have prepared picnic tables once again this year for everyone to partake in their own bagged lunches. These will be spaced apart from one another and placed in the shaded areas of the farm. Feel free to come out just for a picnic, bring your family and a pre-made meal, enjoy a quiet lunch outside under the shade trees and light summer breeze.
The professional farm photographer, Olivia Williams of Olivia Jewell Photography, will be on-site all day for the first two Saturdays during the festival. You and your family can have a professional, studio grade photo taken right here on the farm when you visit. Simply come out on one of the two Saturdays and approach Ms. Williams. As opposed to normal photography requirements an appointment is not needed during the festival to have a picture made of you and your loved ones. You can elect to have a printed photo made for you, or have them digitally sent you.
For our amature photographers we allow at no charge for you use a small handheld camera or phone to snap a picture at one of our several decorated picture spots, or out in the lushous purple fields.
As per previous years we will be offering a package you can pre-purchase which will include store discounts, free items from our store and/or greenhouse, a complementary 5X7 keepsake photograph of your family that will be taken here at one of our scenic photo areas of your choice, (photo is printed and mailed to you, not digital) and other such benefits. Once the package has been fully designed for this year we will post that along with all it's details, so be on the lookout for that.
Ample parking is available and the public is welcome to attend during the open dates, with no fee required to enter the farm.
Some things to take note of: Face masks are required when entering the store or the greenhouse. The field and walking area is sitting on four acres. There is ample room to keep a 6 foot distance, in fact you may have to wave from afar.
You may wish to prepare in advance by bringing with you bug spray and sun block.
If you plan to come in groups larger than ten persons please call ahead to let us know so we can have extra staff on hand to better serve you.
Pets are welcome on the farm at any time. Questions please call 704~223~0007

Christmas on Our Farm

It’s Christmas time! I know you hear it a lot, but Christmas is our favorite time of the year. It carries a deep and resonating symbolic meaning for us on the farm, as we still and always will hold that the true value and meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the Birth and Life of Jesus Christ. All of the lights, food, gatherings, and peacefulness of the season all stem from a place of reverence for us.

This year we will be opening the farm to the public Dec 9-12, Weds through Sat, from 12PM to 8PM. We decided to stay open late this year because we wanted to have a few hours of darkness to show off our Christmas lights for you all. Expect the farm to be lit up gloriously, the hibernating lavender fields cast in multicolored lights.

Of course, we will also be giving you some of our legendary hospitality as well. Free Lavender-Fudge brownies alongside a hot cup of Hot Chocolate OR Medium roast Honduras coffee to all who attend, with various additions available upon request. We will have marshmallows, lavender flavoring, cinnamon-chocolate flavoring, and peppermint flavoring, all optional but free upon request.

The store will be the main attraction this time of year as well. We will have all of our products stocked and on full display. This is a great occasion to get gifts for your loved ones, and we have a variety to satisfy any gift sizes, from stocking stuffers to extravagant large gifts.

What we have in stock this year is expansive. Handmade quilts will be on sale, all made by Dorothy here at the farm, stitched inch by inch in the quiet hours of the night.. They come in sizes from small leg quilts, to large bed quilts. They are warm, soft, and all of them have unique, one-of-a-kind patterns that you will likely never again in your life see.

Goat milk soaps will be fully stocked for the event, with many holiday scents available only this time of year. Of course, we have lavender products in abundance that were made with the buds from this year’s harvest. Drawer Stuffers that many of you are familiar with, (adding some dog patterns) , Lavender Sachets, eye masks, neck wrap pillows, dryer balls, stress balls, etc.

We have stocked up on lady’s handbags and general tote bags, some with rather deep pockets so you can carry a purse, laptop, makeup kit, books, etc. Aprons also, some with seasonal patterns or colors. Knickknacks for your home décor, including antique Mason/Ball jars with lavender buds in them, bowls you can put candy in or use for coffee table pieces (I’ve gotten many comments about them and they go very quickly!).

Of course, I couldn’t possible list everything we have for sale, since we have stocked so many things this year. You’ll have to come out and see some of these treasures we have made yourself. Even if you just want to come for the lights, food, and drinks you’ll still be welcome to spend all evening with us. Sit on one of our pick nick tables with your family, maybe even with a boxed lunch! Or you can sit on the porch with us and we will just talk about whatever is on your mind. Michael is sure to have a fire going outside to warm your hands. We will also be serving SMORES the last hour each day, by the fire.

No matter what brings you out this year, we hope to see all of you. We promise we are going to do our best to make a memorable event for this last part of the year. And rest assured, even though it may get tiring, we intend to still observe the regulations and tips for social distancing and sanitation. We don’t want anything to ruin this special event, so we will work double time to make sure everyone is comfortable and safe!

2020 Farm Lavender Harvest (Click for details)

Farm hours during harvest will be 10AM to 5PM each day of the event. Closed Sunday June 7th.

It’s time for one of our yearly harvest events. These two weeks we will be hosting the Harvest event. You can come out for a variety of farm activities all orientated around the harvest of the lavender. Please note: Face masks are required inside the store and there is a limit of 5 inside the store ( including the cashier). While walking the grounds, please keep social distancing. Due to the special circumstances we are under this year, there will not be any special meals served during the harvest . However please feel free to bring a pic nick lunch for your family and enjoy one of our pic nick tables. we have placed them around the grounds, with ample spacing. Any further questions on this matter feel free to call Dorothy Phoenix

The main activity is picking your own lavender. During this time the lavender buds are fragrant and full, not having bloomed into flowers just yet. They have the most oils and aroma of any time in the year, and so this is the moment most people desire to harvest the lavender stems.

Come out with your baskets or use ours and take to the fields, clipping lavender stems off the plants. The pricing for this is .10$ a stem. We recommend getting a bouquet of 300 stems collected. This gives you enough of the buds to work with in any personal projects, and for display purposes you have plenty of options. For those who want the lavender but don’t want to go into the fields picking, we do sell pre-picked bundles. Each visitor will receive a pamphlet on instructions and advice for using lavender in crafts and preserving the buds for long time use.

There will be wreath making classes that start at 45$. With the lavender in hand we will show you how to construct a wreath of 12 inches out of the picked lavender, how to weave decorations into it, and the best ways of preserving it. We encourage visitors to bring their own embellishments that they wish to add to their wreaths to give it an even more personal touch. These make for amazing gifts and they retain that signature lavender smell. Wreath classes will persist until supplies run out.

We have lavender wand classes through out the entire harvest. The cost is $6.00 per wand , we provide the lavender, ribbon and instructor. Wands can ONLY be made these two weeks while the lavender is fresh.

During the harvest event we also highly encourage visitors to the farm to bring a blanket and picnic basket. We have plenty of open space under the large shade trees for you and your family/friends to have a nice meal in the peaceful quiet of the backwoods.

All visitors, please bring sunscreen and bug spray. Sunscreen is especially important if you intend to pick your own lavender.

Farm Open House

The farm open house has been canceled as an event.

During this stressful time of uncertainty and fear, we believe everyone needs a place to go and relax, away from others and the constant lingering fears that have come from this unfortunate series of events. Time to be alone, or with family. Time to pray and talk with GOD.

For this reason we are allowing people to come out to the farm one group at a time, with no more than five (5) people per group. You may come out to the farm free of charge so long as you call ahead for an appointment. This gives you reassurance that only you and your guests will be the only ones at the farm during your time. Due to precautionary measures and social distancing we allow only one group per time slot.

Those without an appointment can not be served at this time, due to current events. We have to make sure that the farm does not have more than one group at a time, so we can not allow anyone to come without registering with us first. Feel free to call us and set up a time for you, or you and a group, to come out to the farm and enjoy everything we have on offer here.

Our contact numbers are: 704-223-0007, which is the primary number. Please try that one first. If you can’t reach us on that line you may also try 336-669-1072.

For obvious reasons there will be no bathrooms available, and the meal has been canceled also. You're welcome to bring your own snack and picnic blanket to enjoy the farm area. Bug spray and sun-screen are still encouraged as items to bring with you to the farm. The farm store will be open and you can browse the items there as normal.
